Hatch Ride Primary School believes in a 'whole school' approach to supporting children with special educational needs, centred on the Class Teacher. The Teacher is in a position to observe children's response in the classroom and to recognise the child who is experiencing difficulties in learning. To support and identify specific learning difficulties, our Learning Support Assistants will provide one-to-one support or small group work opportunities for these children with each child having a specific Individual Learning Plan drawn up in conjunction with the Class Teacher. Parents are kept fully informed and encouraged to meet regularly with the Class Teacher to monitor progress.
The Department for Education (DfE) has introduced a Code of Practice in meeting Special Educational Needs and this is fully implemented. Copies of Hatch Ride Primary School's Special Needs Policy are available here.
We have a Disability and Discrimination Policy which is fully implemented and ensures no child, regardless of disability, is at a disadvantage at Hatch Ride Primary School. We make every attempt to ensure that the curriculum is appropriate and accessible to all children.
