Parent/carer update 17/03/20 5pm

Dear Parents/Carers

You will, of course, be aware that there has been a change of advice regarding the Coronavirus Covid – 19.  Please use the link below for guidance regarding isolating individuals and families.

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-guidance-on-social-distancing-and-for-vulnerable-people/guidance-on-social-distancing-for-everyone-in-the-uk-and-protecting-older-people-and-vulnerable-adults

Whilst the advice to isolate may be difficult, as a school we are asking that it is adhered to and that any families with an individual displaying a new and persistent cough and/or those with a high temperature observe the 14-day isolation request and those students affected are not sent to school. This is to help support the protection of other members of the community, especially those who are vulnerable.

We are adopting measures to try and limit footfall to the school and within school we have made further adjustments to implement some changes to behaviour; assemblies have been cancelled and adjustments have been made to break and lunch to avoid children being in close contact unnecessarily.  We continue to ensure hand washing is being done well and that children are careful when coughing or sneezing.

We have made extensive plans for any form of closure.  In the event of a partial or full school closure, we will move to setting work for classes through the school website class pages. The children will also bring a support pack home with them. More details of this will follow should we need to partially close or be asked to close fully. We have been showing your children how to access this in ICT lessons this week.

These are extremely challenging times and any necessary move to alternative learning will be difficult for all parties, please bear with us whilst we get this up and running.  It may also be the case that there may be gaps in provision where teachers are unwell, however we have plans to adapt in this situation.

I would like to thank my staff, they have been preparing resources and keeping the children focused and on task. We are lucky at Hatch Ride to have such a dedicated team who will do everything they can to support the children’s learning over the upcoming weeks. The children have been amazing in adapting to changes at school. A special thanks also to our families for following advice, remaining calm and showing support in many ways, including contributions to our Food Bank.

Any updates will be via parent mail, the school website and where possible on the school Facebook page.

Kind Regards

Ms Sparrowhawk
