Healthy Minds Week 2023
The children had a wonderful Healthy Minds, Healthy Planet week which included some special visitors. Classes went on sensory walks, took part in a yoga session with Relax Kids, listened to a Healthy Habits assembly focussing on having a positive mindset, produced woodland art projects and everyone particularly enjoyed the presentation from NADAS who gave a very engaging talk, boosting knowledge of the British farming industry and education on the origin of food. The children also took part in walking to school and daily skipping challenges, thank you to everyone who collected sponsorship money.
We invited ARC Wokingham Youth Counselling Group to run a workshop covering Children’s Anxiety and Transition to Secondary School for Year 5 and 6 parents from our school and Oaklands Juniors. We hope everyone who attended found it helpful.
Healthy Minds Week 2022
The children had a busy and fulfilling time during Healthy Minds Week 2022. With visits from The Fred Experience, The Bees Ice Hockey Club, Alison from Relax Kids, a cooking activity with our very own Mrs Joyce and a variety of other activities in class, the children explored the theme of Fred Z (Food, Rest, Exercise, Devices, Zones of Regulations) and learnt about the significance of all of these in maintaining a healthy mind.
A huge thank you to everyone who donated money for our Bee Ice Hockey Club sponsored event. We raised a fantastic £753. We have used £340 of this to make donations to Arc and WaterAid. Arc is a local group who provide youth counselling services and WaterAid is our school charity this year. The rest of the money raised will enable us to continue our healthy minds work in school. A huge THANK YOU to you all for your support.
The TSI World Bees IHC who ran our sponsored event will be sending certificates and tickets for an ice hockey game for the highest fundraisers in each year group. Well done to you all. The winners were:
