Grammar

In Grammar, we will be looking at how we use fronted adverbials in our writing.

Go through Wednesday's PowerPoint up to slide 19.

Activity one, slide 19: Have a look at the extract. Can you spot the fronted adverbials in this piece of text? Do they describe the time, frequency, manner, place or possibility of the action in the main clause?

Activity two, slide 20: Have a look at the photos on slide 20. Your task is to write sentences that include fronted adverbials. Extra points if you can add a metaphor or simile to your sentences. Some examples are provided for you. Use the support sheets provided if you need extra support.

If you have extra time at the end of the lesson, slides 21-25 provide some fronted adverbial games.
