Days 1-3 Spring

Writing

Complete the following writing tasks:

Fiction

Roll a setting using the 'settings dice' to write a story. You might like to have a go at writing more than one story. Remember to plan your story first with a clear beginning, middle and ending. Does your story have a problem that can be solved?

Poetry

After you have read the poem, follow the instructions on the activity sheet to change the words of the poem. If you wanted something extra, you could follow the pattern to write your own poem about a friend or family member.

Non-Fiction

Read and follow the instructions to create your own spooky skeleton. As you are reading, look out for the important features of instructions that we have practised in class. Can you find the numbered points? How many verbs can you see? Then have a go at writing your own set of instructions for something that you have made or baked. If you haven't made of baked anything recently, you could try writing a set of instructions for how to brush your teeth or make your bed.

Remember that it is really important to read every day and if you would like anything extra than you could:

  • practise your neat and carefully joined handwriting
  • practise your weekly spellings
  • write a list of interesting nouns, adjectives, verbs and adverbs
  • practise using the conjunctions and, or, but, so if, when & because to write sentences

If you would like extra maths activities to complete at home then you could:

  • practise your number formation
  • practise your number bonds for all numbers to 20
  • practise counting in steps of 2, 3, 5 and 10 from any number forwards and backwards
  • practise writing numbers to 100 in numerals and words

If you would like an extra activity you could:

  • investigate, draw and label life cycles for other animals in science
  • follow the link to practise naming continents:  https://continents of the world
  • use a child friendly search engine or an encyclopedia to find out more about the continents
